French Silvered Galalith Deco Gazelle or Antelope Pin

French Silvered Galalith Deco Gazelle or Antelope Pin

Maker: Unknown
Stock Number: 6552
Price: $ 225.00

Bought this big gorgeous fellow from the same London dealer as my Lea Stein's, but he's not marked in any way. We know he's French, we are almost certain that he's Galalith, and we think he's 1920's, but we know for sure that we love him! I had a serious talk with myself about whether to sell this rare item or keep it for my personal collection.

Decorated in shiny silver gilt with cut to black detailing and little tiny texturing marks. Horn is gold colored gilt. Trombone sliding type catch on the pin. Some people refer to Galalith as "French Bakelite," but they are totally different materials. Galalith is not a phenolic, and is nearly impossible to test without destroying it.

Beautiful preowned vintage condition, although there is a melt-like scar on the back, probably caused by someone's previous attempt to test the material. This damage can't be seen when the piece is being worn. Measures approx. 3" x 2 3/4". Please examine all photos as they are your best indicator of condition.
